Separation

I drew this picture today, 27.04.2011 due to my free time and idea that was born in my head. I drew this with the meaning. Meaning that's important for me and I was trying to show some of my thoughts in this simple picture. Ok, there is a TV with a lot of different countries' flags on the screen. Also there is a small man sittin in front of the TV covering his head. The TV represents the [ropaganda on the television and media. Why flags? Why man covering his head? Nice questions. Personally I don't like one of the people characteristic. People love to separate. That's why flags are there. Still not clear? Ok. For me (maybe not only for me) we are all people, but there are a lot of us who always want to separate separate separate. For what? We are separating ourselves calling ones "bad" and others "good". It's not possible that one nation is totally good and another one is totally bad. That's a kindergarden problem that people, after thousands of years living on the same planet still fight and kill each other for land and other things that does not .. exist! Yeah all the things we are fighting for are miracle things. For me a lot of different flags symbolise that "separation."  I'm done with it. But. Why a man and his head covered? The man represents me (and other people) saying: "Stop that headache, stop separating, stop comparing." That's it.. I hope people can understand what I mean by that drawing. Why I've posted it in Africa blog? Because I think it's related to what we were talking about in class, about Rwanda. I saw same separation between Hutus and Tutsis and same separation in my drawing. Of course I aslo drew a Rwandian flag on the screen among other flags.

Hotel Rwanda perspectives

There are several perspectives in the movie. Perspective of the mail character (Paul), perspective of his family (kids), perspective of soldiers, perspective of UN soldiers and leaders, and finally perspective of Tutsi and Hutu people. I will talk about three of them: perspective of Hutus, Tutsis and Soldiers. They are different. The biggest difference is in Hutus and Tutsis because they ae against each other. For Hutus Tutsis are dirty cockroaches and they must be killed, Tutsis don't think that about themselves for sure, but they think that Hutus are violent, dangerous and racist. Perspective of soldiers is kind of  not appreciate, they don't try to help innocent people, they can help them only for money or other goods because they just don't care about what is going on in the country. Generals care only about their own ass not others. There are a lot of different perspectives in "Hotel Rwanda", that shows us that people always have a lot of conflicts and war because of their different perspectives.

Hotel Rwanda (Personal feedback about the movie)

Hotel Rwanda is a movie that was made on real events. The story in the movie represents the story from real life. For me, movie was touching sometimes escpecually that part when the Army guys were trying to separate Paul's family. And other families too. That's pretty stupid for me when people from same country kill each other. That's called a Civil War. For me Civil War is the worst kind of war. Every war is terrible of course. For me, if someone is Tutsi (It's just example) it doesn't mean that every Tutsi is a dirty animal. Also I liked the main character, Paul and his wife, she acted really good. and almost all scenes in the movie were maid so real, especually war parts, I liked it. I found some irony there, in the movie. When UN people were calling for the peace the war began. People wanted peace but they got war. After that UN people didn't really help to solve that problem, they didn't really care. I didn't expect that "Hotel Rwanda" will have a happy end. But Paul and his family survived and went to Belgium, that was a good end, but not for all people. Thousands of people died for nothing. "Hotel Rwanda" shows that cruel things full of genocide happens not only in Europe and America but in Africa too. "Hotel Rwanda" is a good movie that keeps the horror of Rwandas history.

Ok, we watched a movie, Hotel Rwanda, I'm going to talk about that movie and my thoughts briefly. At the begining of the movie I didn't understand what was going there but after reading the script i got the whole idea. As I  understand there are two main 'tribes' in Rwanda: Hutu and Tutsi. So Tutsi were the king's tribe so they were more reach while Hutus were a little bit more poor. Once something has changed in politics and instead of UN's prommised "peace" war began in Rwanda. There were a lot of soldiers from European Nations but they didn't really help Africans to prevent the war. At that poin movie becomes a really touching one, it's really sad to see how soldiers hit people, civil people just because of their Tutsi or Hutus 'nationality'. It reminded me about Holocaust during WWII when Nazis killed a lot of people just because tjey are Jews or other nationalities. Your nationality doesn't make you good or bad, you choose your way by yourself. I can call it genocide when "Hutus" began to kill "Tutsis". Anyway the movie shows that not all people are bad and not all of them are evil. The main Character was a brave man who did a lot to "Tutsis". He was smart and fearless in his decisions. Only his zeal to help these people actually helped them and him in general. Hotel Rwanda is a good movie that shows about things that really happen, and people should remember what is going on in Africa, usually people know about events in Europe, America and Asia but Africa is iften ignored, that's wrong.

Classmates' Presentations

I learned a lot from my classmates' presentations, it was interesting and kinda exciting, I was curious about what other students did for presentation. Everyone did well. I liked everyones' presentations with no exceptions. I learned a lot of interesting things. Honestly i didn't know that there were 4 presidents in Egypt, and last one Mubarak reigned for 29 years! That's long time man. Now I know why 'things' happen in Egypt now. Ok, not only Egypt though. Also of course I didn't know about tribe which members like to eat cows' feces to be strong. Of course i knew about  Cannibalism but I didn't know that tribes didn't eat women because they thought that women are dirty. I don't think so :P. Also I was shocked by amount of art in Africa, I didn't know that art is so well-developed there. I found some pictures really good and I liked them. Presentations were good, I enjoyed the class and hope we will have more classes like that where you can use your creativity and you can see creativity of others.
